What is group therapy?

Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences and challenges, providing a sense of belonging and support that individual therapy does not offer.

In a group setting, you not only receive support and validation from others but also gain valuable feedback and different viewpoints that can deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships.

This type of therapy offers personal insight and growth, improved coping skills, and a stronger sense of community, fostering healing and transformation in a safe and welcoming space that is enriched by the collective wisdom of the group.

“There is no human deed or thought that lies fully outside the experience of other people.”

â€• Irvin D. Yalom, The Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy

Interpersonal Psychodynamic Group Sessions

Psychodynamic group therapy is where individuals come together in a group setting to explore their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, with a focus on understanding how their condition, patterns, and past experiences influence current relationships.

This therapy aims to uncover underlying dynamics within the group to highlight how we relate to ourselves and others, and how it is affecting us in real time within the group. Through interactions with others and guidance from the therapist, participants gain insight into their inner world, fostering personal growth and healing inside the group which is then transferred to their wider network outside of group.

In psychodynamic group therapy, there's no set plan for the sessions. Members can talk about anything of emotional importance to them, making for spontaneous discussions. There is no fixed agenda, more so about awareness acceptance and action. Members can share reactions or bring up new topics, shaping the conversation together.

Here are some of the current group guidelines:

  • Commit to staying until your initial goal for joining the group is achieved
